COMMERCIAL POINT VAPORIZER PROJECT
Dorchester, Massachusetts
Cherne was hired as part of the EPC contract for this 180-million-standard-cubic-feet-per-day replacement vaporization system within the operating Commercial Point LNG facility. This project modernized the plant and provided protection from LNG tank leaks. Working in the operating facility required a seamless interface between ongoing operations, engineering and construction. The scope of work included the installation of five water propylene glycol heaters, three vaporizers, the relocation of four LNG send-out pumps and an LNG loading facility.
The execution strategy required sequencing activities in order to avoid impacts on the LNG tank loading window and vaporization season. Simultaneous operations were considered during all planning and execution of work to ensure the existing facility did not experience unplanned shutdowns.
