City Utilities Southwest Unit 2

City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri provides power to Springfield and several adjacent communities. Southwest unit two (SW2) is a 300mw coal fired plant that will provide affordable power to what is a growing area in population and business. SW2 burns low sulfur Wyoming Powder River Basin Coal using dry scrubber technology.

Cherne's management systems were used to purchase and install the majority of the mechanical material for the project and to manage the installation of the subcontracted work as well. All of the work was accomplished on pace to meet every early completion schedule milestone, and resulted in significant cost savings for the owner.

All systems were completed to the highest quality standards and resulted in a successful start-up.

All Cherne work was completed with zero recordable and zero lost time injuries and received a National Maintenance Agreement safety award for 2009 and 2010.
